Puppy Mill Rescue

The Texas 21

On April 13th, 2011 - 6 volunteers from Arizona Border Collie Rescue drove 3 vans loaded with empty crates to Odessa, Texas where they met up with Border Collie Rescue Texas (BCRT). When the BCRT vans arrived Thursday afternoon, the empty crates were filled with 21 beautiful Border Collies rescued from a shut down puppy mill in Jefferson, Texas.

After all the dogs were safely loaded into the crates, the long drive back began. The volunteers left Odessa at about 4:30 p.m. (AZ) and arrived in Tuscon at about 5:30 a.m.. After unloading two dogs, they continued to Phoenix, arriving at about 7:30 a.m. They were met by a cheering crowd of fosters, volunteers and Channel 3 TV.

If you want to help us with these dogs, here are some suggestions.

  1. Tell everyone you know never to buy dogs on the internet or in pet stores unless you can absolutely ensure that they don't come from a source like this puppy mill. Nearly 100% of pet stores buy their puppies from puppy mills.
  2. Get involved and think about Fostering or Adopting a rescue or helping with Volunteer activities.
If you are interested in Fostering, Adopting, or Volunteering, it's easy - Just register on our website and then fill out an Application.

  3. If you can, Donate Funds to help with Vet Care. 100% of funds go directly to help the dogs in our rescue. We have no paid staff, are 100% volunteer, and your donation is tax deductible.
